Introducing ARCH Academy’s Ridgeview Campus

We’re proud to officially announce the opening of ARCH Academy’s Ridgeview Campus, a brand-new residential treatment facility designed to serve adolescent girls ages 14–17 who are facing substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. As of April 8, 2025, the campus is open and accepting admissions — a milestone that marks a significant expansion of Cumberland Heights’ commitment to adolescent behavioral health.

Our Ridgeview Campus is the latest evolution of ARCH Academy, a program of Cumberland Heights, which has been providing trusted, high-quality care to teens and families for nearly 40 years. Building on the success of ARCH’s Harpeth Campus for boys, Ridgeview now brings gender-specific, evidence-based treatment to young women in need.

“We are thrilled to expand our care model to meet the needs of adolescent girls,” said Dean Porterfield, Executive Director of ARCH Academy. “This campus was built with intention, compassion, and clinical excellence at its core.”

A Place for Adolescent Girls to Recover

The journey to opening Ridgeview was over a year in the making. It involved intensive planning, community support, and dedicated work from staff across every level of the organization. The result is a warm, welcoming campus designed specifically for teenage girls and equipped to provide both clinical care and educational continuity.

Ridgeview has received full licensure to operate as a residential treatment center, and also holds approval from the Tennessee Department of Education to run an onsite high school. This allows residents to continue progressing academically during their stay, without needing to sacrifice their education while focusing on recovery.

From its layout and amenities to its staffing and daily structure, Ridgeview was intentionally designed to be a safe, structured, and empowering environment. It provides young women with the space and support they need to heal from addiction, rediscover themselves, and build healthy paths forward.

A Holistic Approach to Adolescent Recovery

At the heart of Ridgeview’s programming is a belief that healing must address more than just the addiction—it must also confront and treat the underlying issues that contribute to substance use.

The clinical team at Ridgeview offers a range of evidence-based therapies that help residents build emotional resilience, regulate behaviors, and process trauma. These include:

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • 12-Step Facilitation

To complement traditional therapeutic methods, Ridgeview also provides experiential therapies that give residents the opportunity to express themselves, connect with nature, and build confidence in new ways:

  • Equine therapy
  • Fly fishing
  • Pottery and expressive arts
  • Yoga and mindfulness practices
  • A high and low ropes course

Each resident also receives psychiatric care and meets regularly with a registered dietician and nutritionist, ensuring that both their mental and physical health are supported throughout treatment.

Family therapy is another integral part of the Ridgeview experience. By actively involving families in the healing process, ARCH helps repair communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen relationships—so that when a teen returns home, her support system is stronger than ever.

“Cumberland Heights has been a leading adolescent treatment provider for 40 years,” said Jay Crosson, CEO of Cumberland Heights. “Five years ago, we opened our Harpeth Campus for boys, and now we’re proud to launch Ridgeview to serve girls. We couldn’t be more excited!”

Helping Your Adolescent Find Recovery

Families seeking care can feel confident knowing that Ridgeview is held to the highest standards in behavioral healthcare. ARCH Academy is accredited by The Joint Commission, a nationally recognized symbol of excellence in clinical care and patient safety.

Additionally, Ridgeview is in-network with over 40 insurance providers, making high-quality adolescent treatment accessible to more families across Tennessee and beyond. The admissions team works closely with families to navigate insurance coverage and ensure a smooth entry into care.

With nearly four decades of experience in adolescent treatment, Cumberland Heights has become a trusted resource for families, schools, and referring professionals. Ridgeview extends that trusted legacy to a whole new group of young people—and gives families hope when they need it most.

A Milestone in Adolescent Treatment

The successful launch of the Ridgeview Campus is the result of a remarkable team effort. From the generous donors who helped fund the project to the visionary leadership of our board members, this milestone wouldn’t have been possible without a committed community behind it.

We are especially grateful to the dedicated staff who brought this campus to life. From clinical planners and educators to maintenance teams and administrative leaders—everyone played a role in creating a space where girls can heal, grow, and rediscover joy.

As Ridgeview welcomes its first residents, it does so with deep gratitude and an unwavering sense of purpose: to offer hope, healing, and a fresh start to adolescent girls and their families.
